Road race to run wild in St. Albert
The RunWild road race will be coming to St. Albert this May, encouraging runners and walkers at all levels of athleticism to take part.
The event will consist of runs and walks of various distances, including five kilometres, 10 kilometres, the half-marathon and a shorter WildOne Kids MaraFun for younger runners. Participants can run, walk or wheel their way across a course that goes throughout St. Albert’s rail system, including running through Lions Park. There will also be a Race Village at the starting and finish line, including live entertainment, food and drink vendors, and a “fun zone” for children.
The race is staged by RunWild, a volunteer organization that provides education about healthy living to over 6,000 Edmonton area students a year. Funds raised through the event will go to support the national RunWild Canada organization, with the goal of raising $100,000 and reaching $1 million raised since the race’s debut in 2011. In addition to the primary race in St. Albert, there will be a WildOnes Kids MaraFun hosted in Sherwood Park and Spruce Grove the day prior, combining a 1.2-kilometre run with physical education. Charitable runs often use methods like poster printing and social media to help reach local athletes.
The 2025 RunWild race will take place on the morning of May 4, with the route beginning at St. Albert Place.
