This June will see the return of the International Children’s Festival of the Arts, one of St. Albert’s longest-running events with over four decades of history.
The festival features theatre, music, dance, and visual arts aimed at a young audience from across the world. Feature acts include Brave Space, an aerial circus piece; the play “Leonardo! A Wonderful Show About a Terrible Monster”; and the international breakdance crew No Excuses, No Limits. The St. Albert Children’s Theatre will be representing local entertainment with its performance of Seussical Jr., based off the works of Dr. Seuss. There will also be an outdoor stage with entertainment all day, and roving artists throughout the festival grounds.
Children will also be able to tackle hands-on activities, including an open art studio, robotics lessons from Code Ninjas, and a display from Edmonton’s World of Science. One of the biggest attractions is the Daedelum Luminarium, an 11,000-square-foot inflatable structure filled with light and sound. This year will see expanded hours for the Luminarium. Festivals such as this often use colourful poster printing and local media marketing to help attract a broad family audience, including school classes and other groups.
The 2023 International Children’s Festival of the Arts will take place from June 1 to 4 at various venues across St. Albert.
