Mumford and Sons concert sells out in one minute

It has been revealed that tickets for Mumford and Sons’ recent Calgary show sold out just one minute after going on sale.

The UK folk band have gained significant international notoriety since 2009. Their first studio album, Sigh No More, has achieved platinum sales status many times over, and their sophomore release, 2012’s Babel, has been met with the same large sales volumes as well as critical and consumer praise.

Poster printing is certainly an effective marketing avenue used by musicians to promote their music and upcoming shows. Additionally, printing services produce T-Shirts and other memorabilia, which are sold in huge volumes at venues across Canada. In some cases, the revenue generated by Apparel and promotional items exceeds that generated by ticket sales, after taking venue fees and security into account.

While the rapid sell-out of the Mumford and Sons show disappointed many members of the band's massive fan base, the lucky ones who were able to get to the concert no doubt enjoyed the show, which took place on Tuesday.

In a bold move, the band took steps to minimize the opportunities for individuals or groups to purchase large numbers of tickets only to sell them on for a profit. They did this by limiting the maximum number of tickets available to any one purchaser to just four. They also implemented a policy in which the ticket holder had to present identification and the credit card used to purchase the tickets to gain admission.
