Calgary event to explore world of pollinators

As the days get warmer, bees and other pollinators will be getting busy visiting flowering plants, and a Calgary event will give the public a sneak peek into the lives of these industrious insects.

Bumble, digger, mason, honey and other bee species will be the stars of the show for the Bow Habitat Station’s Plants and Pollinators day. It will offer five hours of fun and learning, and the hope is that when the visitors head for home, they will have a deeper appreciation and understanding of their importance.

The attendees will be invited to take part in an assortment of activities. They can put their knowledge of pollinators and native plants to the test in a trivia game, and there will be displays demonstrating how bees find flowers and communicate with one another. The hands-on learning will continue with an opportunity to touch an assortment of related biological artifacts, and admission to the venue is included in the ticket price for the event.

One of the roles that is often taken on by environmental centres is educating the public about the natural world. A poster printing company can lend a hand by preparing display materials for such events.

This chance to learn how everyone can be kind to their neighbourhood pollinators will begin at 10:00 am on May 5th. The day will wrap up at 3:00 pm.
