The challenge of catching an Atlantic salmon using a fly rod is an activity greatly enjoyed by many, and a Calgary event may help these anglers to land their next big catch.
The city will be the location for the annual Atlantic Salmon Fly International; Calgary Convention, and activities are scheduled throughout the weekend. Both single and multi-day passes are available, and fly tyers will be coming in from all over the world.
At least 80 fly artists will be sharing their knowledge, and they will be demonstrating how to prepare a variety of classic patterns. Once they have been inspired, the crowd will be invited to patronize the small businesses in the vendor area, and a banquet will provide an opportunity for fishers to come together and celebrate. A live auction is in the works, and the function is being planned by a committee set up by Atlantic Salmon Fly International (ASFI).
This year, the planners of the gathering have included a variety of activities it hopes will engage youth in art and science of designing and tying fishing flies. A brochure printing company will be able to prepare informational materials for a conference or symposium, and these can be paired with promotional Pens and other swag.
The 2024 ASFI conference will be celebrating this storied fish and the people who catch them starting on September 13th. The BW Premier Calgary Plaza Hotel & Conference Centre will be the venue for the activity.
