Geared Constructions has been assigned the task to design and construct a replacement facility at the Carine Cats Clubrooms in Carine.
The almost $1 million project at the venue, which hosts the sports of softball, baseball and tee-ball, will involve the demolition of the existing storage room and kiosk to make way for a new clubroom. Increased membership has shined a light on the need for more space at the venue, as well as for more functional and contemporary amenities for umpires and players.
Mayor of Stirling Mark Irwin said the upgrade to the 40-year-old facility was well-overdue and urgently required for the club's growth over the next 10 years. He added:
“The new facility will include a social space, storage, kiosk facilities, new changerooms and toilet facilities, and we expect practical completion in 2023. We are particularly excited that the works will also include better facilities for female players and umpires as a key deliverable under the grant.”
Flyer printing campaigns have often been used to help sports clubs such as this enlist new players and to get support for local competitions.
A spokesman for the club said the upgrade will be a definite game changer for the Cats, and it will allow them to continue to develop junior baseball for both women and men in Western Australia.
