Those living around Balcatta can join a creative session where funds raised will go towards the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research (also known as The Perkins). Additionally, those attending are welcome to join others for dinner beforehand.
This event is organised by the Cranking for Cancer cycling team which raises money to donate vital funds to The Perkins to help fund-life saving breakthroughs and provide less brutal treatments. The biggest event in the Cranking for Cancer year is the two-day 200-kilometre cycling event, the MACA Cancer 200, taking place in October every year.
Nehal (from Painting with Nehal) will be leading the session, providing gentle guidance. There is no judgement on the art produced; participants will hopefully find encouragement to enjoy the creative experience whilst benefitting The Perkins.
The organisers of fund-raising events often use local printing services to produce advertising information to be displayed within the community.
Cranking Out a Canvas for a Cure is taking place on 26th August, from 7pm until 9pm. The venue is Odin Tavern, 51 Erindale Road, Balcatta, WA 6021. Tickets cost $50, which includes all art supplies and an entry into a draw to win a $50 voucher for the tavern. Attendees might wish to bring an apron or wear an old shirt. No experience is required.
