Joe Avati was born in Australia and has Italian heritage. For 30 years, he has been on the international comedy circuit and has somewhat of a cult following. According to critics, with his sharp mind and keen observational style, he is able to deliver comedy that is relatable without resorting to profanity or shock, and can therefore be seen by all ages.
His comedy has been described as similar to that of Jerry Seinfeld and draws on growing up in Australia as an Italian.
Avati began stand-up comedy in 1995. By 2012, he was considered a hugely successful comic export and the world’s most successful bilingual comedian. His current show, The Good Old Days, sets out to question whether nostalgia causes people to look at the past through rose-tinted glasses.
A recent reviewer said of him:
“He was brilliant…his interaction with the crowd was fantastic. Definitely would see him again.”
