The annual Christmas Appeal at the Stirling Women's Centre has been launched for 2020, with Balcatta among the locations where donations can be left.
During the past four decades, thousands of people and families affected by domestic violence have been able to take advantage of the centre's support services and short-term accommodation. Its role also extends to the programme known as “Safe at Home”, where the focus is on supporting children and women who prefer to live at home if it is safe enough.
According to Mayor of Stirling Mark Irwin, the appeal provides the community with a great way to brighten up and support other local families who are currently going through tough times.
The annual appeal welcomes donations of all kinds, ranging from Books, toiletries and beauty packs to gift vouchers, board games and toys. Each will be passed on as gifts to women, teenagers and children within the support system of the Safe at Home programme and the Stirling Women's Centre. Donations can also include much-needed gift Boxes, Bags and wrapping paper.
Annual appeals such as this are often widely advertised via the media and local flyer printing campaigns.
Unwrapped gifts will be accepted until December 18, 2020 at key collection points, including the Administration Centre in Stirling, the Operations Centre in Balcatta and the Stirling Leisure Centres in Inglewood, Balga and Scarborough, as well as the city's libraries at Scarborough, Osborne, Mirrabooka, Karrinyup, Inglewood and Dianella.
