Summerset Arts Festival announces event line ups

Now in its fourth year, the City of Stirling is again holding the Summerset Arts Festival in February.

The community focussed festival has a regular attendance of over 25000 people who come to see a range of free events throughout the City of Stirling. The festival website says that there will be events for all ages:

“Held in the first two weeks of February, the festival will feature theatre, live music, art installations, comedy and much more...”

Although most of the events are near the beach, those catching public transport will find Osborne Park station is the most central.

The festival will launch on 3 February at Scarborough Beach Amphitheatre with Comedy Under the Stars. Not recommended for young audiences, the night will be hosted by Dave Thornton and Brett Blake, include Sammy J and Randy and finish up with the ever popular Axis of Awesome.

The family friendly Kids Festival includes Dora the Explorer on stage along with a host of rides, art activities, roving entertainers and even an enchanted forest to explore in Scarborough.

Festival organisers have already announced that Melbourne based jazz ska band The Cat Empire will be the headline act at the free 2012 Beach Closing Concert on 11 February along with local acts San Cisco and Jay Grafton which will be followed by fireworks after the show.

For more information, keep your eyes peeled for a flyer. Printing the program from the website, or following the event on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/SummersetArtsFestival) or Twitter (@SummersetArts) would work too.
