Following close on the heels of major improvements at Hamer Park and Moyle Pavilion, the council has completed Stage One works at Terry Tyzack Aquatic Centre in Inglewood.
The centre provides visitors with a 50-metre heated outdoor pool, a 25-metre, heated indoor leisure pool, a spa, sauna, 90 fitness classes for groups each week and a well-equipped 500-metre squared gym featuring free weights, along with strength and cardio equipment.
Major improvements undertaken for the first time since the centre's opening in 2001 were made to the indoor pools, LED lighting, spa area, change rooms and pool plant, together with retiling of the reception area and concourse of the internal pool.
According to Mayor of Stirling Mark Irwin, the latest upgrades and reopening to the public represents a major milestone, adding:
“Having opened in 2001, Terry Tyzack Aquatic Centre has been in need of major works for some time and so the delivery of Stage 1 on time and on budget is a big moment for the local community.”
Popular community venues such as this, where the public can take part in many activities, have often been widely publicised via flyer printing campaigns across the local area.
The Terry Tyzack Aquatic Centre project was made possible following $1.6 million in funding support by the Federal Government.
