Perth Modern students return to the top

Since 2007, Perth Modern School has recommenced, educating students of exceptional ability, with graduates confirming the school as one of Western Australia’s finest.

As far back as 1912, the school had inaugurated a policy of scholarships encouraging students of high ability, regardless of economic hardship, to attend. The policy ceased in the 1960s for a 40 year hiatus, before the Premier of WA announced funding in 2005 to again make the school a centre of academic excellence.

Perth Modern School is expected to be among the best performing schools every year. This is the opinion expressed by Education Department director-general Sharyn O’Neill, who said:

“If you’re selected as gifted and talented, you’re among the top 2 per cent, so you’ve got to expect them to be there.”

Max Carter, a graduate of Year 12, came first in the State in ancient history, and obviously appreciated his time amongst eager and supportive staff and friends at the school. He said:

“It was an honour to attend Perth Modern School with a group of like-minded people.”

Since 2009, refurbishments have provided a new library and technology centre, as well as a performing arts and conference centre. The school is better equipped than ever to reward talented students from Osborne Park by helping them to reach their potential in a huge range of careers, from music and dance to the hard sciences of maths and physics.

Qualifications gained at the school are best presented with the help of Stationery printing or business card printing, which can be sourced from printing companies in Osborne Park.
