Osborne Park tops cheapest housing list closest to Perth CBD

Osborne Park, Western Australia has been named among the five cheapest suburbs in a 10km radius of Perth central business district (CBD).

A report prepared by the property data service, Core Logic RP Data, stated that Osborne Park housing with a median price estimate of $436,000 was closely followed by four other suburbs within the City of Stirling, to be tagged the most inexpensive.

The report listed Glendalough which is just 5km from Perth CBD as hosting the cheapest apartments with median values earmarked at $335,000.

Affordable housing in areas outside the 10km range was found north of Perth.

Koongarnia in the City of Swan topped the list with a $375,000 median house value.

Meanwhile, the most affordable areas for units were described by Aussie Home Loans executive chairman and founder, John Symond, as being scattered throughout Perth’s outer edge.

Mr Symonds said the news was great for anyone seeking reasonably priced apartments in a wide range of suburbs, a fact which was certain not to be overlooked in real estate marketing materials prepared by brochure printers in each of the relevant areas.

Statistics revealed that dwelling prices had seen a less than 1% rise during the past 12 months in Perth.

Mr Symonds suggested a down turn in the resources boom was largely responsible for the slowing of the market but the market was expected to improve soon.
