In officially opening the first stage of development at what is now known as the Montario Quarter, Lands Minister Ben Wyatt said the infill community had been acknowledged as one of the leading master-planned projects in the world.
The recognition was delivered in the form of 6-Stars awarded under the guidelines of the Green Building Council Australia’s ‘Green Star Communities’ framework, being the highest achievable accreditation. Businesses and organisations can include accreditations and awards on company documents, Business Cards and promotional materials.
Wyatt said the urban village development had already achieved a great deal and was reinvigorating an important heritage place for Perth, adding:
"Montario Quarter is an outstanding example of how modern, vibrant and sustainable communities can be created in our city's established inner suburbs. LandCorp has consulted widely to achieve a new benchmark in smart design and liveability, creating an urban village for more than 2,000 residents, while retaining established bushland.”
He said the detailed attention to the sustainability principles will effectively enrich residents and their neighbours’ quality of life for a long time to come.
Key elements of sustainability at Montario Quarter range from landscaping and building elements that minimise solar reflectance across more than half of the development to the inclusion of a community garden.Get a Free Quote for Business Cards
