The latest round of funding will see an injection of $100,000 into the local cultural and arts industry, with the aim to support creative endeavours and projects.
Mayor of Stirling Mark Irwin said the fund is one of three initiatives provided by the council that not only supports activities that are community-led, but at the same time injects a renewed vibrancy throughout the community.
Irwin said a total of $101,047 has been allocated in the form of 13 grants to initiatives and projects, while providing a helping hand to the city's cultural sector. The mayor added:
“These grants will support live music, dance performance and workshops, art workshops, yarn installations, podcast interviews, open artist studios, makers markets, murals and Indigenous art programs, all of which make our local community richer and more expressive.”
Many of the projects have, in the past, been accompanied by strategic flyer printing campaigns to heighten awareness of events and activities.
Recipients range from The Art of Play Through Playful Art Making, which is set to receive $1,730, to Settlers Cottage Art Studios, which is receiving $10,000.
Previous grants have already contributed to many local projects that have touched the lives of community members. These have included art murals at Churchlands and Scarborough, the creation of an exhibition space, interactive theatre sessions and audio walks.
