Gardening volunteer opportunities in Balcatta

Those in the Balcatta area who love being outside and getting their hands dirty may wish to join a volunteer group that works in a local communal garden.

The Campion Community Garden was officially given the go-ahead by the Council in 2021 and is holding its first Open Day in October. A small group has already been preparing a space for growing and nurturing, and at the open event they are hoping for additional volunteers to come armed with community spirit and curiosity, with or without any gardening experience. On a weekly basis, the group hosts Busy Bee gardening meetings, so that like-minded people can get together and share the duties of caring for the garden.

At the Open Day, the committee will be there to answer questions. Attendees can have a tour of the garden and a take part in a wicking bed workshop, led by Fiona Blackham, who is the Sustainability Officer for the city.

Poster printing is often undertaken locally in order to advertise upcoming community events like this one.

The Campion Community Open Day will take place from 9.30 am until 11.30 am on Saturday, 11 October. The venue is the Keith Clarke Reserve, which can be found at 59 Campion Avenue in Balcatta. The event is free to attend, and light morning tea will be provided.
