The work of design and visual arts students from throughout the Cities of Stirling, Joondalup and Wanneroo are on show in a special exhibition at Wanneroo Gallery.
The opportunity to showcase their creative works within a world-class gallery environment is an experience which has been provided for local high school students for the past five years as part of the Northern Perspectives exhibition.
This year’s display includes everything from sculpture, drawing and painting to digital photography, wearable art, graphic design and textiles. In total, gallery visitors will see 83 artworks created by students in years 11 and 12.
Providing support for the area’s young artists is an important part of Northern Perspectives, according to City of Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts who added:
“This exhibit grants students the chance to showcase their art in a professional setting, which can help with building confidence and continuing to pursue art after high school. I am proud that such a wide variety of community artwork is on display at the Wanneroo Library and Cultural Centre.”
The exhibition has been embraced by many schools with those taking part including Balcatta Senior High School and Wanneroo Secondary College among a total of 16.
A People’s Choice Award, to be determined by visitor nominations, will be announced at the end of the exhibition.
Entry is free to the Northern Perspectives exhibition, which is on show at the Wanneroo Gallery until April 6.
