What's Happening in Balcatta, WA…

Cool new aquatic facility opens at Scarborough

Balcatta residents are now able to cool down with a dip in the new $26m Scarborough beach pool.

The major aquatic attraction is now open for business at the popular location, with an estimated 2000 attending the official opening held recently.

Facility manager Karl Mallett said the new swimming pool facility had attracted significant inquiry from schools and swim groups in the area. As well as, he also said there was also great interest in the swimming pool for learners and the outdoor space which is ideal for families.

Mallett believes one of the major drawcards is the fact that the centre offers both a 25 metre and 50 metre pool which is truly unique.

The below ground Yaragadee aquifer is geothermally heating both the main and learners pools which will maintain temperatures of 26-28 and 32 Celsius respectively, all year round.

Mayor of Stirling Mark Irwin said the new centre has delivered a world-class facility at affordable rates.

Cost of entry for a family of four is $18, adults $6.90 and children $4.20, with monthly memberships also available for $40.

Brochure printing reveals the complex is more than just a swimming pool with Cocolate, a poolside café with healthy meals, and sweet treats on the menu also available.

An upstairs Italian restaurant and takeaway kiosk to seat 300 diners is due to open in the facility in April as well.
