Funding to enlist printing services for a special road safety campaign to help keep children safe has been received by the City of Stirling.
Mayor Cr. Giovanni Italiano is urging businesses, schools, community groups and residents in Balcatta, and throughout the City of Stirling, to get behind the `Please Slow Down, Consider Our Kids’ Bin Sticker campaign, which has attracted $58,006 in Road Safety Commission grant funding.
He said the latest grant was the third received for the campaign, and the stickers were introduced to provide motorists with a visual cue to reduce the speed at which they are travelling.
To ensure motorists do not become too complacent with the bin stickers, the Mayor said the message will only be displayed once a week when bins are put out to be emptied.
He added that the campaign gave householders an ideal opportunity to actively engage in a move aimed at reducing the speed of motorists driving through residential streets and near schools in particular.
Mayor Italiano said the City had many targeted locations, including recreation facilities and schools, where complaints about speeding vehicles had been received.
He encouraged all residents to take the opportunity to work with the City of Stirling in a joint effort to reduce travel speeds in the district.
The bin stickers are available for collection by interested residents at 11 locations throughout the city, including the City of Stirling Depot in Natalie Way, Balcatta.
