Families or carers with young children in the Balcatta area might want to take advantage of a Christmas workshop for youngsters in the run up to Christmas, in an effort to burn off some of that Christmas excitement.
At the Surfin’ Santa Dance Camp, “Miss Ruby” (professional dance teacher Ruby Birch) will be encouraging young dance students with craft activities, a dance class, an acrobatics circuit and a short film.
The school was founded by choreographer and dancer Kate Buchan, and has been flourishing since 2010. It is renowned for its welcoming and friendly approach to dance, and all are welcome to participate, regardless of ability. A nurturing, community spirit is encouraged.
Competitions and performances are not compulsory, and lessons are kept at an affordable price. Encouragement is key, so that students learn while having fun, and this is reflected in the Surfin’ Santa Dance Camp.
The dance studios are light and airy, with sprung floors, and often feature class timetables pinned up around the walls that may have been sourced from local Print shops.
