Unfortunately, many of Mission Australia’s students don’t get the same opportunity. Often, their concern isn’t about fashion choices and appearances, but rather the day-to-day necessities of eating and shelter. Fortunately though, Mission Australia has stepped in and students are gearing up to have a ball of their own.
Melissa Perry, CEO of Mission Australia, is excited at the prospect of the young adults having a fun night without worrying about the financial side. Approximately 80 students will be assisted in attending the ball in October, but Mission Australia still requires help to pull it off. Donations of frocks, handbags, shoes, suits, and jewellery will all be appreciated. Printing companies can also be utilised to get the message out, with flyer printing and related Print company promotion.
It is hoped that service industries, such as hairdressers and makeup artists, will get on board in making the night one to remember. According to Lisa Mills, a manager involved with youth services:
“A major part of Mission Australia’s youth programs is reconnecting young people with their communities. Attending something as simple as a Youth Ball can be an important step in that process.”
Donations of formal wear can be dropped off at the Mission Australia office at Unit 2, 34 Hasler Rd, Osborne Park.
