Call for volunteers to help out at festival

Groat Street Festival organisers are calling for volunteers from Osborne Park, Western Australia and throughout the City of Stirling to help out at this year’s sustainable living event.

Organisers said there are many roles needed to be filled, ranging from introducing presenters to assisting in the swap shop, fixing bikes and being part of the set up crew.

The event, which is supported by the Stirling Council in partnership with Transition Towns Stirling and Eco Faeries, was held for the first time last year and was created by locals to help promote sustainable living within the community.

Flyer printing for the event has listed a full programme of activities, presentations, market stalls, live entertainment, adult and children’s workshops and other learning experiences.

Presentations scheduled to take place at the Henderson Environment Centre and outside the hall will include the Laughter Yoga Workshop, Food as Medicine, Raw Chocolate and healthy energy snacks, Introduction to Food Preserving, Fermented Drinks and Food and How to Make Your Own Cleaning Products.

Throughout the day visitors will be able to take part in guided bush walks through Star Swamp Reserve, while others experience a smorgasbord of choice from the food outlets. A community swap will also be held as part of the National Great Garage Sale Trail.

Let others know about the event to be held on October 24 by downloading a copy of the festival’s marketing material which is ideal for flyer and poster printing.
