Balcatta to donate gifts to help others at Christmas

Balcatta is hosting one of the collection points for gift donations to aid the annual Christmas Appeal for the Stirling Women’s Centre this year.

The appeal supports families in the local area who are in crisis from the devastating incidences of domestic and family violence during the festive season.

The Women’s Centre has been providing its valuable service for 42 years and has helped thousands of families during that time. It also manages the programme Safe at Home, which, if the level of safety allows, supports children and women to remain in their homes.

Mayor of Stirling Mark Irwin said he believes the appeal provides a great way for community members to illustrate their support to a section of the community during what is often a difficult time for all involved. He added:

“It’s fantastic the City is able to run this appeal for the fourth year and each time, we are so grateful for the kind generosity of the community for all of the great donations we receive because this wouldn’t exist without community support.”

The appeal has also created a poster to help spread awareness and attract donations from throughout the community. Organisers of appeals like this often invest in poster printing campaigns to spread awareness.

The appeal seeks donations such as Books, beauty packs, gift vouchers, board games, toiletries and toys, which will then be gifted to women, teenagers and children via the programme. Donations of gift Boxes, gift Bags and wrapping paper are also welcome.

The Balcatta collection point is located at 16 Natalia Way.
