Balcatta residents urged to become digital literate

Technophobes or anxious IT users in and around Balcatta have the chance to visit Scarborough Library in September and learn some useful skills.

The library will be running a Tablet and iPad Basics event to help those who struggle with technology improve their digital capabilities. Owners of tablets and iPads with little understanding of how they can be used are welcome to turn up to the sessions at Scarborough Library. The course covers basic digital skills, and takes place over two weeks. Training courses and events will often make use of local Print services to create advertisements which encourage locals to attend.

An iPad is an Apple version of a tablet, with very similar functions. They can be used for activities such as surfing the internet, watching videos, listening to music, downloading apps, playing games and checking emails. A tablet is a very useful and highly portable piece of technology, and with a little tuition and de-mystification, owners will be pleasantly surprised at what they can achieve.

The Tablet and iPad basics @ Scarborough Library takes place on Monday, September 4 and Monday, September 11 from 1pm until 2pm. The address of the library is 173 Gildercliffe Street, Scarborough. The cost is free, but reservations are essential and participants must sign up for both sessions. Tea and coffee will both be provided; attendees should bring their own reusable cup.
