Balcatta designer to showcase work at Perth Fashion Festival

The work of Balcatta, Western Australia designer Jonte Pike will be on show at the 2016 Telstra Perth Fashion Festival.

Pike said the event will showcase her latest Jonte Paradisus Resort 2016 collection, which involved several months of intense preparation incorporating the initial designs, choice of fabrics, sampling and a photographic shoot.

She said inspiration for the ‘70s undertones and deluxe holiday feel of her collection was sparked by Australia’s long summers.

The Perth Fashion Festival attracts thousands of visitors every year, including designers equipped with note pads and Pens to jot down any ideas inspired by an extravagant showcase from leading fashions houses around the world.

Held across six days from September 20 to 25, the event has been widely promoted through Brochures and newsletter printing.

This year, visitors will also be invited to take part in a number of fashion-inspired events, including runway shows, in-store activities, lectures, performances, exhibitions and workshops.

Supported by the Department of Culture and the Arts, Tourism WA and the City of Perth, the Telstra Perth Fashion Festival is providing an opportunity for industry members to gain added brand exposure and industry networks, according to organisers.

Festival Director Mariella Harvey-Hanrahan said the event represented a huge cultural and fashion-focused event that promoted the city, its talented designers, and some of Western Australia’s most vibrant and exciting brands and venues.
