Applications for community grants invited

The City of Stirling is inviting submissions from community groups and artists throughout the City, including Balcatta, for its latest round of community grants.

Arts, social Impact and community grants are on offer in a move by the council to create better connections within the local community and promote healthy and active lifestyle choices.

Mayor of Stirling Mark Irwin said amounts of up to $10,000 were on offer for local creatives and artists to carry out projects, artistic works, public art and murals, seminars and workshops.

Applications are also being taken for up to $15,000 Social Impact Grants from groups within the local community that deliver projects and programmes that focus on social issues and promote combined participation by local residents, businesses and organisations.

Grants up to $2500 are on offer for community groups wanting to deliver projects and programmes that hone in on the local community's needs. These groups are being tasked with assisting the activation of four Community Hubs located at Scarborough, Osborne Park, Mirrabooka and Inglewood.

Flyer printing campaigns have often been carried out to help promote local activities taking place throughout the community.

Mayor Irwin said applications for arts grants have a deadline of 25 September, while both the Social Impact and Community Grants are open until 16 September. He added:

“Under our new City vision to be ‘a sustainable City with a local focus’ I am pleased that these new grants are available and that their local focus will soon benefit the community."
