Through Film Australia, the Victorian government has secured the series which is being touted as the:
“…biggest budget television production to come to Victoria since Steven Spielberg’s ‘The Pacific’ in 2007.”
Local actors and crew from West Melbourne and throughout the state are expected to vie for up to 740 jobs in the 10-part series which is set to be shot in Melbourne at Docklands Studios as well as throughout regional Victoria over a seven month period.
Hundreds of jobs will be created, according to Minister for Creative Industries Martin Foley who added:
“Productions like this aren’t just a boon for our screen industry, but for the state economy too – in this instance to the tune of $50 million.”
Preacher is based on the comic book series by DC Comics and tracks the movements of a conflicted preacher who gains extraordinary power while enduring a crisis of faith. Since the first episode hit screens in 2016, the show has attracted a cult following around the world.
Producer and writer Sam Catlin developed the series, assisted by Executive Producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.
The production of Preacher will feature a plot based on Melbourne and will also showcase iconic city and regional locations to a worldwide audience. Poster printing is often used in the entertainment industry to showcase films and shows to the public.
