NGV to host free summer series of events
West Melbourne residents are ideally located to take advantage of a summer series of free events being staged at Victoria's National Gallery (NGV).
The Summer Nights programme at NGV throughout January includes DJs, live music, artist talks, fashion and films. In hosting the jammed-packed events programme, the gallery is staying open from Monday to Thursday until 9pm. Special events will be held on Friday nights, and there are also additional activities scheduled for Sunday afternoons.
Major Events, Sport and Tourism Acting Minister Mary-Anne Thomas said events such as those being held at the NGV attract thousands and support jobs. She added:
As part of the programme, the Great Hall at the NGV is be turned into a drop-by cinema where patrons can enjoy screenings that have been inspired by NGV's “Gabrielle Chanel. Fashion Manifesto.” exhibition.
Poster printing campaigns have often been conducted to make locals and visitors more aware of exhibitions held at such venues.
Late-evening access to displays of collections and free exhibitions, as well as special dining and bar experiences in the venue's garden, has also been included for the convenience of visitors.
The NGV summer series is part of a blockbuster 2022 events calendar planned by the Victorian Government to boost visitors to the city centre.
