Companies wanting to tap into the younger market of talent in the workforce are targeting areas around Sydney and Melbourne.
In a recent report by Innovation Geographies, agent JLL has rated Melbourne as number 10 in the world for suitably qualified, forward thinking talent, with companies relocating to those suburbs with the best suited demographics.
West Melbourne is one inner city suburb identified as having at least half of its workforce between the ages of 20 and 39 with around 45% of the population holding at least a Bachelor’s Degree.
The lifestyle opportunities offered by the city, including its strong infrastructure around universities, has led to an increase in demand for property. Office space is being highly sought in areas where employers are seeking to tap into the younger demographic of workers.
Head of research at JLL in Victoria, Annabel McFarlane said that developers are looking at locations that will become strong technology hubs and this has pushed a lot of firms to move into those areas. Businesses may use local Print shops to create advertising material for marketing and recruitment purposes.
The demand for more office space in these areas has seen an increase of around 1.8% in rental office space with further reports suggesting that Melbourne will overtake Sydney and have the larger workforce by 2046.Get a Free Quote for Print
