Fans of a certain songstress from Cardiff in Wales, UK, can soon listen to a faithful tribute in Shepparton.
Dame Shirley Bassey is known for her uniquely powerful voice. Singing from the age of 16, she had her first number one hit in the UK at just 22. She has had many Top 40 hits in the UK since and is the only artist ever to have ever sung the theme tune to three James Bond films.
She has appeared on television many times and has even hosted her own variety show. Bassey has also received many awards and is the first woman ever to have a UK Top 40 album in seven consecutive decades.
Melbourne’s Danielle Matthews, an award-winning singer, will be belting out the songs of Dame Shirley Bassey in an upcoming tribute show. Despite being a musical theatre and cabaret artist, Matthews is known best for portraying Bassey and also for her musical parodies, which she displayed online during the pandemic. Songs on the playlist are likely to include popular hits like Big Spender, Diamonds are Forever and Where Do I Begin.
Colourful poster printing is often undertaken locally in order to create advertising for musical events like this one.
The Songs of Shirley Bassey is set to be performed on Tuesday, 11 November, from 2 pm until 3.30 pm. The venue is Riverlinks Eastbank, which can be found at 70 Welsford Street in Shepparton. Tickets cost from $29.50.
