The Beggars is an Australian group that is best-known for celebrating The Seekers. Formed in 2006, the group consists of singers and songwriters Quinton Dunne (vocals, double bass), Stuart Day (vocals, guitar, harmonica, fiddle) and Renee Donaghey (vocals, guitar) who together have a recognisable acoustic sound. Their own music has made them popular both at home and in the European country music charts.
The Seekers tribute evening will include hits such as Morningtown Ride, Georgie Girl and I’ll Never Find Another You. It will chart the trajectory of the band from the early 1960s Melbourne to swinging London and the BBC television special called Farewell the Seekers, which was viewed by millions in 1968.
The Beggars will also play some of their own original songs. There will be no backing tracks, just the purity of the music that is produced live on stage.
The pop icon Normie Rowie has said that The Beggars is:
“The best Australian vocal band since The Seekers.”
Venues that host musical events often use banner printing to produce advertisements that can be displayed within the local community.
The Beggars Sing The Seekers: An Afternoon Delight will be taking place on Tuesday, 8 September at 2 pm. The venue is Riverlinks Eastbank, 70 Welsford Street, Shepparton. Tickets cost from $25. Afternoon tea is included with the ticket price.
