Shepparton to host Albanian festival

Shepparton residents are welcome to join in the celebrations for the 27th annual Albanian Harvest Festival, which is a highlight in the Albanian cultural calendar.

Shepparton is home to over 3,000 people with Albanian heritage and is thus known as one of the oldest recognised Albanian communities in Australia. The event is in Shepparton and will consist of traditional music and folk dancing, supported by an Albanian band and DJ, as well as activities for the whole family. There will also be a market offering locally grown produce at wholesale prices.

Supported by the Shepparton Albanian Women’s Committee, there will be traditional food available to buy, such as Byrek (flaky pastry that is filled with spinach, cheese and pumpkin or meat) and Japrak (cabbage leaves stuffed with rice, meat and herbs). There will also be a $10 ticket raffle, with the top prize drawn on the day being an $8,000 trip to Albania.

Price lists and tickets for market stalls may be created by the use of local printing services in order to produce clear signage.

The Shepparton Albanian Harvest Festival is taking place on Sunday, 29 March in Queens Garden, Shepparton, from 11 am. Plenty of produce is available to buy, so attendees should bring Bags and Boxes if they wish to purchase some. Entry is accepted by gold coin donation.
