Those living in the Shepparton area can sign up for a life-drawing art class, with reference to the paintings of artist Edgar Degas.
Degas was a Parisian-born impressionist artist, born in 1834. He was known particularly for depicting movement, and his portraits of ballet dancers are amongst some of his most well-known works.
Award-winning artist Debra Winn will be instructing and guiding participants at the drawing session. She has created art for dance companies around the world, including both The Australian Ballet and The New York City Ballet. Prestigious institutions that Winn has lectured at include the National Gallery of Victoria and the Art Students League of New York. Her work is collected internationally.
There will also be a live model who will wear ballet clothes and assume both short and extended balletic poses, referencing the iconic works of Degas.

The Shepparton Art Museum (SAM) will be presenting a ballet-inspired life drawing session on Saturday, 15 August, from 10 am until midday. The location is Level 4, Shepparton Art Museum, 530 Wyndham Street. No experience is necessary and all materials will be provided. Participants should be aged 16 or over, and a ticket costs $49.50.
