Thousands expected to attend major gardening event at Prahran

The programme is set for what has been described by many as the gardening event of the year in Prahran, Victoria.

Demonstrations, workshops and activities for all ages have been included on the schedule of events for the annual Spring Into Gardening, which Mayor of Stonnington Cr Melina Sehr said offered something for all visitors.

She said the event to be held at Prahran’s Victoria Gardens attracted thousands of people each year and provided a great opportunity for gardening enthusiasts to pick up tips and expert advice on sustainable living.

The event will address a wide range of gardening scenarios including lavish backyard gardens and quaint settings such as apartments and balconies.

Vasili’s Garden TV show presenter Vasili Kanidiadis is this year’s festival host.

Flyer printing for the event lists an extensive one-day programme that includes market stalls, workshops, practical demonstrations and free expert talks.

Getting back to basics Sensory Gardens’ Justin Calverley will speak on worm farming and composting as well as presenting an introduction to permaculture.

Demonstrations on green wall and green roof installations will be conducted by a representative of Do it on the Roof while the art of creating stunning gardens in concrete or small spaces will be the focus of a presentation by Balcony Life.

Children and beginners will be catered for with an edible plant demonstration and special gardening workshop put on by The Sage Garden.

The Spring Into Gardening event will be held on October 11.
