Fans of swing dance in the Prahran area may be keen to sign up for the Swing evening in December. This event encompasses social dancing with swing DJs, a lesson and guest performers.
Swing dance has seen an exponential growth in recent years as people come together to share the joy of (mostly, but not always) partner dancing to uplifting swing music. Created in the early twentieth century by African Americans, swing dancing actually encompasses a range of styles and was extremely popular during the Second World War with the rise of Big Band music in the US. The most widely taught dance within the genre is the Lindy Hop – others include the Charleston, the Balboa and the Shag for high energy.
Colourful Promotional Products such as clothing can be worn by fans to dance events in order to help endorse and advertise a brand within the community as such items will have a lot of exposure in a busy dance arena.
The Easy Does It Beginner Friendly Swing Dance Party takes place on Saturday 10th December, from 6.30 until 10.30pm. The venue is Prahran RSL Memorial Hall, 301 High Street, Prahran VIC 3181. Tickets cost $20. The organisers of this event include Swing Patrol Melbourne and the Shout Swing Dance Troupe, with music provided by jazz troupe The Bluebelles.
