Those in the Prahran area who like watching singers performing songs from musical theatre shows and more contemporary, pop music will be keen to come and watch a competition instigated by Take the Mic at Chapel off Chapel in May.
Take the Mic was founded in Australia eleven years ago. During this time, over $250,000 worth of prizes have been allocated, which includes recording deals, music videos and studio equipment. The singing competitions allow for performers to have much-needed stage experience and exposure within the industry.
At the Take the Mic - Singing Competition, the audience will watch performers perform a musical theatre song and/or a contemporary number. Judges for the event include Des Flanagan, Alinta Chidzey (Moulin Rouge! The Musical), Cassie McIvor and Madi K (The Voice, Australia). The performances will be scored on vocals, song choice, performance and story-telling. Every audience member is also entitled to a vote. Winners during the weekend will then take part in a Grand Final in July.
Print shops are often called upon to produce Posters to advertise local competitions within the community.
The Take the Mic – Singing Competition is taking place from 4th until 5th May at Chapel off Chapel, 12 Little Chapel Street, Prahran, VIC 3181. Tickets cost from $25. The competition is comprised of Juniors, Teens and Adults performing songs in the genres of Musical Theatre and Contemporary.
