The residents of Prahran, Victoria, and surrounding areas within the City of Stonnington, have welcomed the TH King Pavilion and Stonnington Environmental Education and Design Centre with a revamped look.
At a cost of $2.8m, the redeveloped facility now features a first aid room, kiosk, wash rooms, gymnasium, two change rooms, social space and public toilets that are more accessible.
The project received joint funding from the state authority, the City of Stonnington and St. Kevin’s Old Boys Football Club. Additionally, AFL Victoria contributed a five-figure grant.
Malvern Cricket Club is one of the facility’s new major tenants.
All will be able to enjoy updated facilities, according to Mayor Adrian Stubbs.
He said council had made the improvement of parks, open space and sports grounds a priority, and this latest project was in keeping with the City of Stonnington’s Pavilion Redevelopment Strategy 2009.
The Strategy acts as a future upgrade and redevelopment guide for 16 of the council’s sports facilities.
This latest development – officially opened on October 21st by the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Damian Drum, along with Mayor Stubbs – also incorporated the new Stonnington Environmental Education and Design Centre.
Flyer printing will no doubt be a valuable marketing tool to advise residents of future sporting fixtures and events at the venue, which is already proving popular with locals.
