Prahran residents to enjoy accessible music festivals return

Ability Fest is returning to Melbourne this November.

The event is a music festival that takes place across two stages and will be running with Untitled Group and Dylan Alcott Foundation as its partners. Untitled Group is the country’s biggest promoter of independent music. The festival will be hosted by Triple J.

During the afternoon, there will be some musical performances by well-known artists such as Alex the Astronaut, Cub Sport, Benson, Ebony Boadu, Dena Amy, Intrusive, Eves Karydas, JK-47, Nina Las Vegas, Motez, Rudely Interrupted, Peking Duk, Stace Cadet, Sunshine, Sumner and What is Not. Music festivals like this can widely be promoted via poster printing.

For those concerned about their safety, the festival will be held in a manner that is Covid-safe. It will have a venue that is completely accessible, which will include platforms that are elevated for easy viewing, quiet zones, pathways, a sensory area, AUSLAN interpreters, accessible toilets, volunteers and companion ticketing. The target audience for the event is everyone who loves music.

The event was founded by Dylan Alcott, Paralympic gold medallist and 14-time Grand Slam champion, in collaboration with music festival organisers like Grapevine Gathering, Beyond the Valley and Wildlands. The objective of the festival is to utilise music to provide a platform that is inclusive and to increase acceptance for those with disability.

Alexandra Gardens, which is located across from Flinders Street Station and within close proximity to Prahran, will be the festival’s venue. Ability Fest will take place on November 27th from 12pm to 11.30pm.
