The City of Stonnington will return with its Native Plant Giveaway, giving residents the chance to claim a selection of free plants native to the local area. Attendees will also have the opportunity to join a free gardening workshop and enjoy the music of the Climate Choir.

Part of the ongoing Sustainable Stonnington program, the free native plant giveaway is a chance for residents to play their own role in future-proofing the biodiversity of the community. By inspiring residents to plant native plants in their home gardens, the council hopes to create backyards that reduce water usage, provide wildlife corridors between natural habitats and encourage the population of native bees and other insects.

Alongside their free plants, residents will be able to collect a bag of compost and take part in a free gardening workshop, focused on building a sustainable and environmentally responsible garden. The event will also host the Climate Choir Melbourne, a community choir sharing environmental messages through song.

Organisers of community education events like this often turn to brochure printing services to support their cause, handing out pamphlets and other materials in order to share information with the public.

Residents of the City of Stonnington can collect their free plants and attend the workshop at Prahran Square on Sunday, August 31, from 11 am to 1:30 pm.
