All-Australian jazz at its best will dominate the 11-day festival, which will feature an impressive programme of events and performances at various venues across Stonnington. The festival hub will be focused around Chapel Off Chapel and feature everything from immersive experiences and shows to interactive events.
This year’s event will be produced by Stephen McAllan and Nichaud Fitzgibbon who have combined to bring together jazz’s diverse genres to create a memorable musical journey that stretches from Brazil to New York and New Orleans.
Mayor of Stonnington Steve Stefanopoulos said there will be something of interest for everyone at the 2020 jazz festival, adding:
“This years’ festival has something for everyone, from jazz aficionados to live music for fans and those new to the genre.”
The gala opening performance for the festival to be held from May 7-17 and will feature the Daryl McKenzie Jazz Orchestra with Libby Hammer and Fern Belling. Cultural events such as this are often promoted in the community using marketing tools such as poster printing.
Other highlights will include Lost in a Dream: The Musical Life of Chet Baker by leading singer and trumpeter Roscoe James Irwin, Flicker starring Harry James Angus, Oceanic Blues featuring Karen Lee Andrews, and the album launch of This World Project.
