Melburnians will again descend on Prahran Market late in October for the 2018 annual Say Cheese Festival.
The day-long event is now in its sixth year and continues to thrive, seeing demonstrations and displays put on by some of the best chefs and cheese makers from around the world.
This year’s Say Cheese Festival will showcase the cooking talents of local celebrity chef Tobie Puttock and Anthony Femia of Prahran Market raclette bar Maker & Monger. World renowned cheese maker Will Studd will also be there to provide his insight and experience in the industry, while children’s cooking classes will be run by Jamie Oliver’s Ministry of Food.
The market’s regular traders will of course be in attendance to service up dishes made specially for the festival. Celebrations of food are often a great way for businesses to promote themselves through the giving of Corporate Gifts and promotional Drinkware.
The state of Victoria includes four of the top ten cheese making regions in the country, according to Australian Geographic magazine. Will Studd moved from the UK to Melbourne in the early 1980s to help promote the local industry. In the early 2000s, he gained some notoriety when he illegally imported raw milk Roquefort cheese. His challenging of the laws eventually led to a changing of the regulations.
