The National ICT Careers week is a date for the Calendars next month, aiming to showcase the range of potential career opportunities available in the information and communications technology industry, with a Deakin University event set to play a pivotal role.
Organised and run by several bodies – including the Australian Computer Society (ACS), Digital Careers, the Australian Information Industry Association and TAFE – the week will see more than 100 events take place across the country.
The events aim to show the wide variety of possible jobs available in the sector, ranging from system administrators, web developers, technical support staff for printing companies, business analysts, application developers, and many more.
Both the Australian Computer Society and local ICT industry bodies have had a yearlong focus on encouraging more girls to look at careers in ICT, and one particular event in Victoria will continue this message.
The ‘Go Girl, Go for IT Career Showcase’ will be held at Deakin University’s Burwood campus on Tuesday, August 16 and female students from secondary schools in nearby areas like Malven, Prahan, and Box Hill have been invited to explore the wide array of amazing opportunities open to them in the ICT sector.
