A workshop on making handmade Christmas cards will be held this December in Prahran.
The workshop is designed to teach participants how to make unique cards and will take the inspiration for designs from Christmas traditions around the world.
The tutor for the workshop is Maria Teresa, who originally hails from Ireland but now works in fashion in Melbourne. She paints as a hobby and favours the use of watercolours over other media, as she prefers the freeform movements of the brushstrokes.
Each person at the class will be given four blank cards and, under Teresa’s guidance, will be shown how to turn them into individual masterpieces. She takes her inspiration from the many colours and designs found within the fashion world and together with the Christmas theme, will encourage participants to create their own one-of-a-kind Christmas cards.
The skills learned on the day are not limited just to Christmas, but can be used for other occasions if people are interested in continuing on with the craft. Participants are not required to have any formal art training to attend the workshop, but it may be of interest to those who want to hone their art and graphic design skills.
The Christmas card workshop will be held at in.cube8r gallery in Prahran on Sunday, December 8 at 1:00 pm. Tickets cost $40.36 per person.
