According to Creative Industries Minister Danny Pearson, the aim of the funding, which is being made possible through the Victorian Music Industry Recovery Programme, is to support businesses, workers, musicians and music venues in their recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Pearson said a total of $3 million in grants will be shared by more than 130 Victorian venues, artists and music businesses, which represents about 5,000 industry jobs, and he added:
“Our music industry creates and supports thousands of jobs – injecting millions into our economy. The programs will revive our music culture by supporting local businesses and workers, so they can continue to do what they do best.”
As part of the initiative, Prahran band Gravemind will receive $19,218 to produce, create and promote its second album “Introsphere”, while Muso - We Hear You Pty Ltd has been allocated $50,000 to create a business, together with the marketing strategies required to generate employment opportunities for self-managed and emerging musicians.
Brochure printing campaigns have often been utilised to help promote entertainment industry members, including musicians.
Pearson said the grants will also assist both venues and businesses in ensuring all events are COVID-safe, as well as helping industry members create new music and organise and deliver digital initiatives and opportunities for business development, as well as initiating tours across the state.
