The City of Stonnington, which encompasses the inner southeastern suburbs including South Yarra, Prahran and East Malvern, will be running the annual Pets in the Park Day again this year.
The family-friendly event welcomes all pet owners with attractions throughout the day, including live music, demonstrations, competitions, and a pet parade, as well as a range of stalls with information on the latest pet products.
For the more intrepid visitors, Rookeeper will be there with its mobile zoo, including snakes, crocodiles, possums, and dingoes.
Network Ten’s weather man Mike Larkin will be this year’s host with animal experts Dr. Melissa Meehan and Lara Shannon from Network 10’s Pooches at Play also on hand, giving talks on how to be a more responsible pet owner.
Racing fans can enter their canine in the amateur race event with the Jack Russell Terrier Racing Team, and aspiring celebrity pooches can enter the Superstar Competition sponsored by PETstock, which includes best trick and best dressed categories.
Owners are reminded that while cute and catchy graphic design on a costume can be eye-catching, the RSPCA asks that owners be mindful of their pets comfort in choosing their outfits.
Pets in the Park will be held in Central Park in East Malvern this Sunday, March 24 between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM, and is a non-smoking, alcohol-free event.
