The musical begins with a disfigured man who is attempting to live his life as normally as possible, but is thwarted by those who would exploit him due to his appearance. With an all-star cast, the story is re-told with embellishment and a comedy twist, although it still serves to remain sensitive to the difficult nature of the story and helps to highlight the courage and hopeful nature of a little-understood man.
Beat rates the performance with five stars and describes it as:
“Beauty and the Beast meets The Book of Mormon.”
Indaily calls it:
“An audaciously witty comedy with a lot of heart.”
This production was the winner of the Critics Circle Award at the Adelaide Fringe in 2023.
