Council launches poster competition to mark Anzac anniversary

Primary school students in Prahran, Victoria, have been invited to enter a poster contest in commemoration of this year’s Anzac Centenary.

The date will mark 100 years since Australians took up arms to fight in World War I, which took place between 1914 and 1918.

The newly introduced poster competition is open to children enrolled in Prep to Grade 6 in schools located within the City of Stonnington.

A3 poster printing paper should be used for all entries, and each must feature a historical theme that reflects the Anzac Centenary (1914-1918) Commemoration.

Each submission must be accompanied by a completed entry form, which can be downloaded from the council’s website.

Entrants will be vying for a top prize of $300 plus an additional $500 to be awarded to the winner’s school, while second prize is $200 and third prize $100.

Entries will be received in hardcopy form with the entry form attached at the Stonnington Service Centre, which is located on the junction of Glenferrie Road and High Street, Malvern, before Thursday, April 2nd at 4pm.

Mayor Melina Sehr will officiate at an afternoon tea and awards presentation ceremony to be held on April 19th from 2pm at the Stonnington City Centre.

Following the competition, the Malvern Town Hall will host a display of the winning entries.
