Chinese cooking class offered this August

Prahran residents can participate in a hands-on Chinese cooking class next month.

During the class, participants will learn the authentic method to make Chinese food. Chinese cuisine is made up of a variety of foods that are used to create balance between the yin and yang of the body.

Participants will not only learn how to make Chinese dishes, but they will also learn practical skills. This will be through practise with methods involving chopping, preparing and rolling. Attendees will also be educated on Chinese spices and ingredients, along with how to use them to balance flavours. Printing services are often used to Print recipe cards and instructions for cooking classes like this.

The dishes that participants will be making include Mapo Tofu, Ganbian Sijidou, Dong Po Rou, Chao Shuo and La Yu. Participants are asked to arrive 10 minutes earlier than the start time on the day. This is because the facilitator will start on time and will not be repeating the health and safety procedures or any other demonstrations for latecomers. For those who have particular dietary requirements, they can be catered for by letting the organiser know.

The class will end with a seated meal, where everyone will get the opportunity to enjoy the dishes they have cooked with a glass of wine.

The Chinese cooking class will consist of up to 20 participants and will run from OTAO Kitchen. Tickets cost $165 per person, with the class running for three hours. It will take place on Friday, 20th August starting at 6.30pm.
