Entries for an annual literary festival ‘[untitled]:’ held to uncover talented writers in Prahran, Victoria and surrounding areas are currently being welcomed by the City of Stonnington.
Introduced by the City four years ago, the festival celebrates readers, writers and stories throughout the local area. This year’s event will feature workshops, panel discussions, author talks and children’s activities among other activities. The 'What’s Your Story' writing competition, run by the Stonnington Library, will also be held in conjunction with the event.
Mayor Melina Sehr said the literary festival provided a rare opportunity for members of the community to share unique and fascinating stories about the area.
She urged residents to take part in the competition which offered cash prizes in each category, stating that one of the exciting aspects of the festival was uncovering new and aspiring writing talent.
Entrants are required to dig deep into their own life experiences and write a poem or short story based on those to submit for the competition.
The categories include ‘My Favourite Stonnington Place’ (Photo-storytelling competition), ‘My MicroMemoir Short Story’, Poetry (Open Age), and Short Story (Open Age).
Printing services have been kept busy to ensure the library has sufficient entry Forms available over the counter for anyone planning to submit an entry. Applications to enter can also be made online.
