Film Victoria has recently invited owners of interesting homes such as these to register their details for the chance to see their home feature in upcoming TV series or films.
The Government-run agency's Production Attraction and Support Manager, Joe Brinkmann said the Edwardian and Victorian homes have proven popular because they reflect architecture from around the world and, he added:
“In a globally competitive market, the diversity of our architecture and landscapes – along with the support offered by Film Victoria – make Melbourne one of the most attractive places to shoot in our region. The right location could double as just about anywhere – LA, England or even China.”
While the screen industry in Melbourne continues to boom, the latest call to register possible locations is effectively opening it up to the wider community. Brinkman said the search was also on for American-style homes such as Californian and cape cod bungalows, Europe's English and Tudor cottages as well as modest and art deco homes.
Interesting homes used in films have often also found themselves featured on promotional poster printing to advertise individual productions.
